A most talented young drummer…

Demetrice “MeatDaDrummer” Everett is mostly known by the nickname “Meat” and slogan “MeatDaDrummer.”  He is a very versatile drummer and a multi-talented individual who can play several styles of music.

Currently, he is the drummer for American Idol Finalist Pop Artist Anoop Desai and Gospel Recording Artist Marcus Cole.  His influences are great and dynamic drummers such as Buddy Rich, Denise Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, JoJo Mayer, Aaron Spears, Tony Roster Jr., Spanky, Dave Weckl and several others.

From a small town of Aulander, NC, Demetrice Everett discovered his passion for the drums at the age of two and actually began playing the drums at the age of 4. He became very good and learned how to play so fast, that he beat out his father for the drum job at church, and at the age of seven took over his father position playing the drums at his church, Greater Harvest Fellowship C.O.G.I.C;

By his teens, he was well known around the eastern part of North Carolina as a well gifted and talented young drummer.  Greatly aware of his talent and ability to create on the drum set while performing soon Demetrice was playing in concerts, performing in talent shows and events all over the eastern part of North Carolina.  He has performed in front of hundreds and thousands of people and has traveled all over the country drumming for any artists from gospel, jazz, neo-soul, pop, etc….

He has worked with great gospel recording artists by the names of Marcus Cole, Lucinda Moore, Timothy Wright, Lashaun Pace, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Beverly Crawford, Shirley Caesar, Jessica Reedy, Latice Crawford, Aaron Mason,  and Noreen Vail to name a few, and has shared the stage with Tye Tribbett, Ziel as well as other artists and musicians.

Demetrice has also played for jazz pianist Marcus Johnson, saxophonist Marcus Anderson, and Bernard Johnson. He is an inspiration to those in his community especially the young drummers, musicians and youth all over the world.

He has held drum clinics for several communities to instruct as well as show hands on to young and old drummers, musicians what it takes to become a successful drummer in the music industry; as well as providing drummers with the wisdom, knowledge, techniques, and skills of becoming a versatile drummer.

Demetrice was featured in the Black Nobility Magazine and he also was a great blessing to the community by performing a drum solo live at The 33rd Annual Cystic Fibrosis event hosted by WCTI-12 newscasts. Demetrice as well has appeared/performed on NBC 17, WITN-7, WRAL5, GMWA (Gospel Music Workshop of America), Rhythm of Gospel Awards, NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), and has toured with Pop Artist Anoop Desai. Demetrice has drummed on several live recordings, many albums with credits to his name.

With the mind of a producer and with great abilities Demetrice Everett is in the run to become one of the greatest drummers out of the eastern part of North Carolina.

He currently has two solo hits “Perfect Timing” Ft Marcus Cole and “Rainy Day”, he hopes to one day record a whole album of jazz drums and instrumentals. When I asked Demetrice did he have any advice for fellow up and coming musicians, his words were ” Believe in what you do, don’t let no one discourage you from your dreams and dream big”
