Ero Seagull is a Greek-Canadian music artist with a message. She has developed a musical style that draws on a range of influences and genres spanning from hip-hop and pop to early post-punk. Her lyrics stand for and encourage unity and love. And her stand is no clearer than with her new release. The LGBT friendly Greek-Canadian electro / hip-hop artist returns to the music scene with a new single entitled ‘Requiem’.
The song blends soothing vocals and synthetisers to an atmospheric effects. It draws from the influence of music icons such as Enya and John Lennon as well as that of Lana Del Rey. The atmospheric piece results from a collaboration between composer and producer Marilena Orfanou (S.W.I.M), lyricist and melody maker Ero Seagull and producer, mixing and mastering engineer Antonio Escobar.
The unjust murder of George Floyd inspired the song. Ero went to her piano and wrote the melody and the words. She does not just call for an end to the police brutality against BIPOC & People Of The LGBTQI Community. She demands that the ‘Impunity’ enjoyed by the perpretrating police officers ceases. She reminds us that they violate the human rights of BIPOC & People Of The LGBTQI Community.
Born and raised in Athens, Ero started playing piano at the age of six. When she finished school, she decided to hone her creative talents with a course at the prestigious Bretton Hall College in Leeds studying Theatre/ Dramaturgy. It was there that the artist started writing her own music. She thus entered The People’s Music Awards in the “Off The Beaten Track” category and played the prestigious Scala venue in London.
Ero Seagull is no newcomer in the music industry. She released her debut album ‘Evolution’ on EMI Universal and Amour Records. She also participated in Amour Records’ Grecospectiva Collection with her covers of Christmas in Hollis by RUN- DMC & Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry. US music bloggers selected her track What’s In A Romeo which reached over 30,000 Spotify plays in less than a month. The biggest Greek radio stations like EnLefko, Athens Voice Radio & Kosmos support her songs.
